Carin Wester is a genuine Swedish-grown designer. She attended Beckman’s School of Design, and debuted her own line in 2003. A break-out star from the start, she has become one of Sweden’s most successful designers. Her current line has slouchy, but modern androgynous overtones.

What made you start working with fashion?
“My mother and her big fashion interest inspired me to become a designer. I knew that I wanted to work in fashion from quite a young age.”
Name a designer who has influenced you.
“Coco Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent both revolutionized fashion in their own elegantly rebellious way. And both of them used an interesting mix of feminine and masculine elements that feels very modern and inspiring to me.”
What is your favorite color to work with?
“Nude.”
What is fashion to you?
“For me it is my job that I do every day but it is also, of course, my way of expressing myself and interpreting the world around me.”
What do you like most about Sweden?
“The clean air and the different seasons.”
