WATCH Audience Award 2010

by: Rikard Lagerberg
The winner of the WATCH Audience Award 2010 is Gabriela Pichler's Scratches! The film follows a group of teenagers around an old rundown industrial area. Do they live there, take refuge, or just kill time? Scratches also won the 2009 Guldbagge Award for Best Short Film as well as Best Swedish Cinematography at the Uppsala International Short Film Festival.

The WATCH Audience Award 2010 was arranged by Sweden.se in cooperation with Uppsala International Film Festival. Visitors to Sweden's official film player Watch.sweden.se were able to view ten films awarded Best Film or Best Cinematography at recent Uppsala national competitions and vote for their favorite.

The voting, a part of the Second Annual Web Film Festival at Sweden.se, was open from September 29 through October 25, 2010. Thousands of visitors from all over the world (144 countries and territories) took part in the festival. The WATCH Audience Award along with a prize sum of SEK 15,000 was presented to Gabriela Pichler in Uppsala on October 29.

At Watch.sweden.se we stream Swedish film on the web for an international audience. In addition to the festival and competition films the film player has a range of films in its archives — from sport to dance to interview films with Swedes. Everything is now gathered in one place at Sweden’s official video player, Watch.sweden.se.
