This trip is rushing towards its end — I need to be in Stockholm on Friday for an unrelated work meeting, and plan to go to Gotland for the weekend after that before returning the Volvo on Monday, leaving me only tomorrow, Thursday, to get to Jönköping and then northeast to Stockholm.
I've had to hurry past some big destinations these past few days — both Göteborg and Malmö deserved more than the few hours I could give them this time round — but as a result I've been able to visit lesser know gems. Today, it was the turn of Karlskrona, Sweden's naval city, Kalmar, and its castle, and then Öland and its windswept plains.
I took quite a few panoramas today, mainly because there were clear and obvious destinations such as the Kalmar castle, but you never know until the end of the day which panorama will make the cut for this project. Today, choosing was especially difficult. Quite by chance, after dinner, I drove down to what appeared to be a village by the sea, in order to catch the setting sun. It turned out to be a fisherman's hamlet, quite deserted but oh so photogenic. I ended up taking three panoramas like the one above, each one of a reflection in the windows of different huts, and each one came out great. In the end I chose the one above only because it needed almost no work; also, the stars inside the window are a nice touch, I think:-)
