A safe country
In most respects, Sweden is a safe country. The crime rate is generally low, and there is little risk of natural disasters such as earthquakes and hurricanes. A high level of openness and transparency in political and business life makes Sweden one of the least corrupt countries in the world.
Trust in government
With a highly transparent government and an actively critical press, it’s no wonder that so many people in Sweden trust their elected officials and public institutions. In fact, Sweden consistently ranks near the top of the Worldwide Corruptions Perception Index, published by Transparency International.

A peaceful society
Sweden is a peaceful country by almost any measure. As a country, it contributes to peacekeeping and development efforts around the world and, incredibly, has not participated in war since 1815. The 2009 Global Peace Index, published by Australia’s Institute for Economics and Peace with data compiled by the Economist Intelligence Unit, puts Sweden among the top rankings of the 144 countries measured.
